Dig this. The fantastic notion of a magical, mystical world, where the dead (or undead) and the very decidedly alive exist side-by-side, in hauntingly beautiful harmony.
Where the line between indoors and outdoors is blurred by an abundance of verdant botanicals that wander endlessly throughout architectural elements. Time stands still on clocks that tick only in the mind… a host of human skeletons and their canine companions rule the landscape, lurking at every turn. Naturally colored features blend seamlessly. There’s a lingering mist… an unearthly aura. And, of course, the perfect, eye-catchingly delectable table for two.
The real treat in the tale? Knowing this garden of frightful fantasy is more reality than a fancifully imagined outer realm. Time we take a closer look. Dinner and a Show
Never mind the mossy resting spots or resident raven; they’re an important part of the fabric of this spellbinding scene. Have a seat… enjoy the view as it grows before you.
Wow, what a table. A startlingly sophisticated feast for the eyes, from floor to ceiling. Rats… on second thought, let’s take it from the top. Dripping in jewels of faceted crystal, an out-of-this-world chandelier embellishes the tablescape with a cool sparkle and warm glow. At the center of the scene is a trove of gilty pleasures: gold chalices, candlesticks, and chargers that rest on moss-covered placemats. Over-the-top accompaniments include a tiered centerpiece of flower blossoms, eggplant, and a wickedly clever artichoke candle. Note the skeleton mouse attempting to make a run for it (it’s Halloween, after all!).
And moving down to… OH, those rodents again. Let’s skip the floorshow…
Go with Your Gut
Well, look at that. When it comes to Halloween, if it’s eye catching and strangely different, it’s destined to make a killer impact. A rib cage terrarium (that’s right) is a fabulous example of following your instincts—and a spiritedly stylish way to tickle guests to the bone.
The breakdown: Halloween favorites carefully deconstructed and artfully reassembled to create a thrillingly beautiful microcosm of the broader scene. The rib structure, from one of our life-size skeletons, is richly ornamented with an abundance of ivy and Spanish moss. But here’s where the concept really takes wing: butterflies, from our Paper Halloween Wreaths have, happily, taken up residence in and around the new oasis. Look closely. A realistic skull is emblazoned on the back of each wing, mimicking the markings of a natural butterfly. All in the details!
Suspending the terrarium, and allowing the natural elements to gracefully drape downward, creates an even bigger spectacle and greater sense of drama.
Enchanting…
Just Add Water
Alright, perhaps there’s a touch more to crafting an exquisitely eerie “water feature” for wowing fiends and family on Halloween night, but not much—it’s dreadfully easy. Have an existing fountain or birdbath you’d like to dress up for the big occasion? No? Trick: choose any table—indoors or out—and place a shallow, large-diameter vessel capable of holding water on it. That was easy.
Head-to-toe, spine-tingling theater—the best way of capturing, in words, the visual presence of this mystical monument. A peek behind the magic curtain reveals our detailed Winged Lady Statue placed prominently within the basin of a separate water fountain. The green colorations of natural moss and ferns complement the stone hues, while the foliage also serves to disguise and soften the bold angles of the base. Wispy, delicately flowering fronds of botanicals, draped across the shoulders of the statue, resemble a royal sash and adds a touch of grace.
The fiercely captivating finishing touch: warm water and dry ice mingle in a mad scientist’s experiment, at the foot of the statue, and the mist begins to billow and roll, then cascade over the edge. What a stunner.
